Capital Solutions

In 2021 we expanded our alternative credit capabilities with the addition of our stressed credit Strategy – a new alternative asset class which focuses on financing good companies facing temporary difficulties.

In Europe we believe there is a large opportunity set of small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking funding to relaunch their businesses, and we see a gap in the market to provide financing. This includes the provision of super senior loans like US Chapter 11 debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing and other forms of funding to support companies in their recovery. The Strategy seeks to offer positive returns with downside protection and is backed by an investment team with international restructuring experience and knowledge of the local markets.

Our Advantage

  • Experience with a background in international restructuring and local expertise in key target markets
  • Robust platform for sourcing and implementation through the broader Muzinich private debt platform across 6 countries
  • Limited competition to our flexible capital as banks and existing private debt strategies don’t target this market segment

Capital at risk. The value of investments and the income from them may fall as well as rise and is not guaranteed. Investors may not get back the full amount invested.

Stressed Credit Risk:  Companies that are stressed are more likely to default which could result in a significant or even total loss of the investment.

“We seek to provide flexible and creative solutions to facilitate corporate turnarounds to help good companies re-emerge from the shock of the pandemic”

Value In Credit?

With the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine and persistent concerns about inflation, fear has now started to replace greed in markets, which may create interesting opportunities for long term investors.  It is very difficult to time markets, but we believe a focus on fundamentals during periods of volatility helps provide a framework for good decision making.
